High Speed Traffic Management FAQs
High speed traffic management is the process of planning and implementing traffic control measures on motorways, dual carriageways and other high speed roads where vehicles travel at 50mph or more. These measures can include lane closures, diversions, speed restrictions, and managing the flow of vehicles in the area.
12A traffic management refers to the installation, maintenance and removal of traffic management systems on high speed roads (50mph and above) with temporary traffic barriers. This includes lane closures, contraflows and hard shoulder closures on motorways and dual carriageways.
To work on 12A roads, traffic management service providers must be accredited under the National Highways Sector Scheme (NHSS) 12A, to demonstrate compliance with safety regulations and best practices. Doocey Traffic Management is fully NHSS 12A accredited, meaning we can safely and effectively manage traffic on 12A roads while adhering to national standards.
12D traffic management applies to temporary traffic control measures on urban and rural roads with speed limits below 50mph. This includes:
- Temporary traffic lights and stop/go systems
- Road closures and diversions
- Pedestrian management and temporary crossings
- Signage for street works and local construction projects
Doocey Traffic Management is an NHSS 12D accredited provider and as such we deliver fully compliant temporary traffic control solutions for a wide range of projects.
